Dhootapapeshwar Gandmala Kandan Rasa is an ayurvedic herbomineral tablet formulation composed of 10 herbal and mineral ingredients. The Sanskrit word 'Gandamala' means all diseases affecting the throat region including the thyroid gland and the word 'Kandan' means to destroy. So this formulation is used in the management of Goitre and other thyroid disorders.

Rasa kalpas works faster and has better therapeutic efficiency than other formulations. The purified mercury and sulfur are triturated together to form Kajjali (black sulfide of mercury) and is potentiated with Tamra bhasma, mandoora bhasma, and other herbal ingredients with goghruta for 2 days and finally made into a pill form.

It is also used in swelling, inflammation, cysts, and tumors of any tissues in the throat region and is primarily indicated in Galganda and Gandmala. These conditions cause swelling around the neck and cervical lymphadenitis(inflammation of cervical lymph nodes). It is also beneficial in mumps, lymphadenopathy, thyroid disorders, Carbuncles, etc.

It also helps in digestion and is an excellent blood purifier and Rejuvenator. Tamra bhasma used in this formulation has yogavahi, Rasayana, medohara, lekhana properties which help in abrading the vitiated Kapha Dosha and it also helps in the proper secretion of enzymes.

Mandoora bhasma and trikatu acts as digestant, Rasayana and Raktashodhak. It also helps in relieving the Agnimandya (low appetite) and Constipation associated with thyroid disorders. Due to the medohar, pachana, and lekhana properties this drug can be effectively used in the management of obesity also.
