Kerala Ayurveda Bala Thailam is an ayurvedic herbal oil that is well acknowledged for its effectiveness on neurological and rheumatic conditions like gout, arthritis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis and can be massaged into the affected areas to relieve joint stiffness and swelling in these disorders.

This oil is rich in many herbs such as Bala, erand , raasna, manjishtha, mudgaparni, maashparni , jatamansi, etc. that contain pain relief factors and anti-inflammatory properties which makes it effective for joint pain. The key ingredient 'Bala' has analgesic effects on the body generally used for providing power to muscles and bones.

Kerala Ayurveda Bala Thailam is made according to the method given in Ashtanga Hridayam. To make this herbal oil, sesame oil is utilized as the solvent which also contains herb water concoction. The unwanted components are then filtered out. As a result, both water and oil-soluble phytoactive elements of medicinal herbs are present in this oil.

This medicated oil can be used internally or externally depending on the patient and type of disorder. It can be applied as a massage oil to relieve aches in various body parts and as ear drops to treat a variety of ear conditions. Additionally, this oil can be used as an enema to treat some intestinal problems. In newborn babies, it is used for massaging the body for better growth and mental health.
