Dhootapapeshwar vanga bhasma or rangaka is an ayurvedic medicine made from purified tin along with some plant extract such as apamarga (Achyranthes aspera) ashwatha powder (Ficus religiosa). The preparation is organometallic and is processed in several stages before being ready to use by the consumer.

According to ayurvedic texts, the process of forming the bhasma includes four stages namely – Shodhan which means purification of tin, Jaran means heating and stirring of plant extract with metal, bhawana (levigation), and maran (incineration).

Firstly the tin is purified by the shodhan process after this the purified tin is taken into a big iron pan and melted slowly. When the whole tin is melted we add apamarga and ashwatha powder at a slow pace so that the plant extract mix completely with metal particles then we proceed further with jaran prakriya which includes heating and stirring of plant extract with metal after heating and stirring all these things a semi-solid kind of paste is formed.

After the jaran, we leave the paste to cool down so that we can ground or grind it well in the next step. Now the next process is bhawana or levigation in this we ground well this already-cooled solid mixture so that we can obtain a fine powder. And finally, the last stage of this process is maran which means incineration, this process includes the grounding of powder with asparagus juice extract or sometimes with aloe vera juice extract.

After this disc-shaped cakes are prepared from the mixture which are then dried and burnt in the absence of air in a close container at a very high temperature i.e., 650-700°C, and this process is repeated several times. Vanga bhasma is widely used in gastrointestinal, UTI, and diabetes problems also used a lot in sexual health problems like ED(erectile dysfunction) due to its balya (strength providing) and vrishya(aphrodisiac) properties.
