    Duralabharishta is a classical Ayurvedic remedy for piles from Ashtanga Hridaya which is comprised of decoction of herbs like Duralabha (Tragia involucrata). It is an aqueous solution which contains about 5 to 10% of alcohol generated naturally within a span of 3 months of fermentation.

    Properties and Uses:

    It is Vata-Anulomak and Deepak-Pachak.

    Useful in Indigestion, Constipation, and Haemorrhoids.

    Dosage and Anupan:

    Adults – 15-30 ml twice a day mixed with an equal quantity of water.

    Children – 5-10 ml twice a day mixed with an equal quantity of water.

    Side Effects:

    A single dose of more than 40 ml may cause gastrointestinal disturbances and diarrhea.

    It contains sucrose hence best avoided in diabetics.

    Shelf Life:

    10 years. Bottle once opened is better advised to be consumed within three months.
