    Jeevanthyadi Gritham used for a preparatory procedure for Panchakarma and also as an effective medicine for optical problems according to Ayurveda in Netra Roga.

    This Ayurvedic formulation is in herbal ghee form which has ghee as its base component and mainly used for a preparatory procedure for Panchakarma and also as an effective medicine for optical problems according to Ayurveda in Netra Roga.

    Ingredients:

    1. Jivanti – Leptadenia reticulata
    2. Water used as decoction – 12.288 liters boiled and reduced to 3.072 liters
    3. Ksheera – cow milk
    4. Ghrita – ghee – 768 g
    5. 12 g of each of
    6. Prapaundarika – Nymphea stellata
    7. kakoli – Fritillaria roylei
    8. Kshirakakoli – Lilium polyphyllum
    9. Pippali – Piper longum – Long pepper
    10. Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa
    11. Saindhavalavana – Rock salt
    12. Shatahva – Anethum sowa
    13. Madhuka – Glycyrrhiza glabra
    14. Draksha – Raisins
    15. Sita – Sugar
    16. Daruharidra – Berberis aristata
    17. Triphala ---
    • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
    • Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica)
    • Amalaki (Emblica officinalis)

    Properties and Uses:

    1. Used in treatment of Glaucoma.
    2. Used in Netra Vasti and Netra Tarpana in panchkarma procedure.
    3. Used in preparatory procedure called snehakarma for the treatment of early stage of cataract.
    4. It controls many pitta based ailments.
    5. Effect on Tridosha

    Dosage and Anupan:

    1. Normal Ghirtapana procedure.
    2. In Panchakarma preparation – Snehana procedure, the dose depends on the disease status.
    3. For eye ailments it is usually taken with Triphaladi choornam after dinner.

    Side effects:

    No side effect with this ghritham is yet reported but in very high dose, it may cause diarrhoea and indigestion.

    Shelf life:

    Maximum up to 3 years from the date of manufacturing.
