Nagarjuna (Gujrat) Brihat Vasavaleh is a complex Ayurvedic remedy comprising a blend of various herbal ingredients. Its main application lies in the treatment of productive cough, cold, asthma, and different forms of bleeding disorders. The formulation itself takes the form of a semi-solid Avaleha. The preparation process commences by extracting the essence of Vasaka, followed by boiling it in water to create a decoction. The resulting decoction is meticulously purified before being combined with sugar and subjected to further heating until a thickened consistency is achieved. Once the desired texture is obtained, Pippali churna and Ghee are introduced into the mixture, effectively enriching the medicinal properties of the final product, Brihat Vasavaleha. It is commonly consumed by direct oral ingestion, primarily through the method of licking.
