Kottakkal Haridramarichadi Leham is a herbal jem-like preparation made from ayurvedic herbs such as haldi, pippali, draksha.  It is used in the management of colds and coughs. Haridramirchadi leham is generally given to those patients who are suffering from frequent colds, coughs, breathing issues etc.

This medication provides strength to the respiratory system and prevents such conditions. Haldi and Pippali are both excellent in terms of treating Kapha disorders. According to Ayurveda, problems like rhinitis, difficulty in breathing, and sneezing arise due to an imbalance in Kapha dosha in the body.

Ingredients present in haridramirchadi leham help in removing accumulated excess cough from the chest, eliminate congestion and give relief to the patient. Haridramarichadi Leham is traditionally prepared as follows – the whole process of making leham is divided into three parts namely – kwatha dravya (decoction of herbs) pishti dravya (fine powder of herbs) and Sneha dravya.

In the first step, kwath dravya is taken and boil them together for some time, then reduce the mixture to an appropriate level, filter out, and set it aside. Now take pishti dravya and boil it for a while, then filter it with a muslin cloth to remove any unwanted content.

In the final step, we take a large utensil or vessel and add filtered decoction, filtered pishti dravya, and boil this mixture, then add sneha dravya and mishri powder and stir until it forms a semi-solid or jam-like consistency. Remove the entire mixture from the heat and set aside to cool for a few minutes before adding the honey and storing it tightly in an airtight container.

This is a classical way to prepare leham medication. The Haridramarichadi Leham is also used by those patients who are suffering from congestion in the chest, pain while coughing, excessive cold, soreness in the chest and other respiratory-related disorders.

The Haridramarichadi Leham can also give in conditions like difficulty in breathing and a weak respiratory system. A weak respiratory system can be a result of low immunity, and allergic reactions such as pollen allergy, dust allergy etc. Other Conditions such as asthma can also be managed with the help of Haridramarichadi Leham.

The ingredients present in this medication help in strengthening the entire body system to fight against infectious agents such as viruses, and bacteria. This will help in getting rid of those infections which are caused due to seasonal changes, however, the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidative nature of drugs present in haridramirchadi leham helps in building a strong immunity of the body.
